Sal's six-week course aims to equip actors with at least one (if not more) fully-prepared scene(s) and/or monologue(s) to add to their active repertoire, as well as expanding each actor's "tool kit" with a fresh approach to the art of acting. As with anything else in life, how much you accomplish depends on how hard you work. Sal's scene work is based on director Jose Quintero's work with actors. Two hours of each class will be filled with scene work and the third hour to "change-ups," which include acting games as a group (based on the Peter Brook rehearsal process) and simple improvs (based on Viola Spolin's "Theatre Games").

It is requested that all actors bring a prepared piece to the first class. If a prepared piece is not possible in the first class, Sal will assign an improv or a cold reading instead and later assign a monologue or scene with a partner for the next class. Visitors are allowed to audit only one class for free.

Homework includes regular scene rehearsals with partners outside of class, the reading of several books, plays and/or screenplays, as well as rentals of specific films to watch the work of the great actors of today as well as legends from the past. The classroom is available from 6:30-7:00PM for brief rehearsals prior to class, which starts promptly at 7PM. The classroom can also be made available from 10PM on, if actors wish to continue working in the classroom after class is over.

At the end of the six-week course, you may opt to have your work shot on HD and be given your own edited promo video on DVD. The costs of these one-day shoots are minimal and will be based on the requirements of the material being shot (whether interior, exterior or needing special locations such as riding in a car, etc.). The shoot days will be scheduled separately from class time. These shoots must be fully discussed with each actor and the scenes and costs agreed to beforehand.
